A How-To Guide For Preparing For An Annual Service Visit

Have you scheduled you annual HVAC service visit yet? Making sure that your cooling system is in good shape might be a good idea, seeing as how you probably relied on it heavily throughout the hot Fresno summer. You should also have your heating system checked, right in time for winter. Use this guide when preparing for an annual service visit for your heating and cooling system:

  • Brand names and model numbers – Write down the name and model numbers of all your HVAC equipment in case your contractor needs the information.
  • Know the problem – If you’re having problems with any part of your HVAC system, be sure to write them down so that you don’t forget anything. You’ll want to tell the contractor the symptoms of the problem, what you think might be the cause, and how long your home has been experiencing the symptoms.
  • Clear the area – The area around your HVAC equipment, such as your furnace, should be cleared. Clutter can pose a real safety hazard. If these areas are not clear, make sure they are before the contractor arrives. You don’t want anyone hurting themselves trying to get to your equipment.
  • Have someone present for the appointment – If you can’t make it home in time for your scheduled appointment, then make sure that someone over the age of 18 is there, and equipped with all the necessary information.
  • Have a method of payment ready – You don’t want to waste a busy technician’s time while you go searching for your checkbook.
  • Be near a phone before the appointment – You don’t want to miss the call when your service person tries to contact you about a delay or confirmation that someone’s home.
